Supervisor: Sprinkler Division Manager

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm generally. There may be some overtime or weekend work as authorized by Manager.

General Employment Minimum Requirements: Demonstrate solid reading comprehension and math skills. Demonstrate problem solving skill. Maintain ability to pass random drug screen. On a daily basis, demonstrate flexibility and cooperation with other employees, clients and the public; demonstrate effective communication and customer service. Demonstrate work ethic and honesty. Maintain dress code standard and employment policies. Adhere to safe work practices. Able to work 40 hours minimum per week.

Job Specific Employment Requirements: Maintain physical ability to walk, climb, crawl, and work overhead or in vaults all day. Maintain ability to lift +50 lb repetitively. Maintain a valid driver license in Oregon or Washington with an insurable driving record and safe driver skill. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, dexterity and coordination. Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving aptitude. Must have own hand tools and a true desire for a career in life safety industry.

Required Experience: 5 years in the sprinkler industry as an apprentice or journeyman.

Preference Given: To current licensed journeyman or minimum NICET II certification with relevant experience in the fire sprinkler install/repair industry; current (or able to acquire) Portland fitness permit(s) in sprinkler, underground; Backflow certification; experience with fire pumps and storage tanks, deluge, pre-action, foam systems.

Sprinkler Installers are required to acquire and to maintain certifications and/or licenses as required performing installation and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems in business, institutional and residential occupancies. They are required to know the current fire code for the various jurisdictions they are working in and be comfortable working with NFPA 25, 13, 13R standards. Installers will demonstrate knowledge of applicable fire codes and life safety standards for the occupancy, the equipment, and clients served. Sprinkler Installer can accurately read blueprints and prepare take-off lists.

Compensation & Benefits: Competitive wage + commission program, $50-80k annual depends on results delivered.

  8. Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

They are required to know the current fire code for the jurisdictions they are working in and be comfortable with NFPA 10, 17, 17A, 96 standards. Service technicians work closely with Metro’s clients and become knowledgeable about the buildings they are helping to protect. They will become proficient in the scheduling, invoicing and reporting processes used by Metro. Field service personnel are required to demonstrate a solid work ethic and the discipline to set priorities and execute assignments in an efficient manner. He must be confident in his communication with clients and demonstrate strong problem solving skills.

Job Specific Tasks:

  • Perform required maintenance/test/repair of portable fire extinguishers at the client’s location or at Metro’s shop as assigned.

Description: Limited energy Class A technicians install, maintain, replace and repair electrical systems and equipment of under 100 volt-amperes, including protective signaling systems (fire alarm, nurse call, security), communications systems (data telecommunications, intercom and paging) and specialized control systems (HVAC, medical, boiler, clock and instrumentation).

General Position Requirements: Metro Safety & Fire, Inc. is looking for an energetic, self-sufficient and detail oriented person to learn the fire alarm trade. Must possess a valid driver license and clean driving record; pass a criminal background and drug test; be able to lift, carry, crawl, climb all day. High school graduate or equivalent, strong math and reading a must. Requires a mechanical aptitude and analytical thinking.

We offer a paid apprenticeship tuition program. Entry level wage is dependent on knowledge and experience to date.
