Title: Fire Alarm Service Technician
Supervisor: Fire Alarm Division Manager
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm minimum
Some overtime or weekend work as authorized by Manager
Minimum Employment Eligibility Requirements: Oregon or Washington Limited Energy Technician Class A License and/or NICET Level 2 Test and Inspection of Fire Alarm Systems Certificate; college level reading comprehension and math skills. Minimum age – 21 years. Physical ability – this position can not accommodate physical limitations as it requires walking, climbing, crawling, driving, lifting, and repetitive overhead work. A valid license in Oregon or Washington with a good driving record (will be checked) is required. Must pass pre-employment background check.
General Position Requirements: Has a detailed familiarity with the tools and testing equipment used to perform required maintenance testing and inspection of fire alarm systems of all types and sizes with confidence. Has a working knowledge of applicable fire codes and life safety standards for the equipment they service and the clients they work for. Service technicians work closely with their clients and become very knowledgeable about the buildings that they are helping to protect. Able to acclimate quickly to the scheduling, invoicing and reporting processes used by Metro. Must possess a solid work ethic and the discipline to set priorities and execute assignments in a time efficient manner. Must have solid communication skills to interact with clients, authorities and team members. Must have strong troubleshooting/problem solving skills and attitude.
Job Specific Tasks:
Perform inspection and testing of all types of fire alarm panels and devices per manufacturer specifications and applicable fire codes.
Use troubleshooting skills to trace system problems and document deficiencies.
Accurately document fire/life safety devices on service records.
Meet monthly revenue and productivity goals.
Work cooperatively with authorities having jurisdiction.
Conduct training for the proper use of installed fire equipment.
Meet with potential clients to provide surveys and quotes for service.
Represent the company at professional meetings when requested.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
