Title: Pre-engineered Suppression System Installer
Supervisor: Fire Division Manager
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
– Flex scheduling is required to accommodate client install schedules
– Some overtime or weekend work as authorized by Manager
Description: Pre-engineered suppression systems are installed in commercial, industrial, and institutional occupancies to provide fire suppression coverage for a special hazard. Installers must be trained and certified. Training and certification will be provided on the job.
Minimum Employment Eligibility Requirements: Demonstrate solid reading comprehension and math skills. Demonstrate problem solving skill. Maintain ability to pass random drug screen. Flexibility and cooperation with other employees, clients and the public; effective communication and customer service skills. Work ethic and honesty. Maintain dress code standard and employment policies. Adhere to safe work practices. Must pass pre-employment background check.
General Position Requirements: Maintain physical ability to walk, climb, crawl, and work overhead all day. Maintain ability to lift +50 lb repetitively. Maintain a valid driver license in Oregon or Washington with an insurable driving record and safe driver skill. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, dexterity and coordination. Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving aptitude.
Suppression Installers are required to acquire and to maintain certifications and/or licenses as required performing installation and maintenance of pre-engineered suppression systems. The Installer will complete training through equipment manufacturers to become authorized to install new fire suppression. They are required to know the current fire code for the various jurisdictions they are working in and be comfortable working with NFPA 17, 17A, 96 standards. Installers will demonstrate knowledge of applicable fire codes and life safety standards for the occupancy, the equipment, and clients served.
